This musical, which marked the end of the silent film era, follows the story of Jakie Rabinowitz who goes against the traditions of his devout Jewish family to pursue his dream of becoming a jazz singer. After punished for singing in a beer garden, Jakie runs away and begins making a name for himself as Jack Robin. But his rising fame soon clashes with the reality of his home and heritage.
